My Heart for Yours

My husband had open heart surgery this week. He had a valve and part of his aorta replaced. A congenital defect discovered in an otherwise healthy man. A big deal, a very big deal.

All turned out well and he is coming home today - 4 days post-op. Amazing how quickly the body can recover from such trauma. Unbelievable what a great surgeon can do. Gratifying what support a solid health care organization to provide to the family.

New Clothes are Fun

Girls. We like manicures, scrap booking, and getting our hair done. We like to shop. Or do we? I bite my nails. I do not scrapbook (although I would very willingly pay someone to make a scrapbook for me), and sitting in a chair for two hours while someone wraps, colors, and cuts my hair every ten weeks is a necessity, not a good time.

Shopping is tedious and I don't want to spend lots of time doing it. I want to go in, get what I need and get the heck out of dodge. Shopping costs money and I don’t like paying for clothes. So, I put off buying anything until I absolutely, positively cannot go another day with doing so. Or, until the 5th person in as many days tells me to go out and buy myself some new clothes.

I started exercising about 8 months ago. I lost 10 pounds, 5% body fat and am down to a respectable 10 minute mile. Good for me, bad for my clothing situation but heck, isn’t that what they have the extra holes on the belt for?

Anne Taylor Loft has got my back. I received a 25% off coupon in the mail last week and an in-store special for $25.00 savings cards. I was in and out of the store in 30 minutes. Saved a bundle.

I do have to admit that wearing new clothes has been pretty snazzy for this girl. Now that's fun!
